Spring

A SPRING SAMPLER

SUGARING WEEKENDS
Come boil syrup and take home a pint! Gather sap from buckets, stoke the fire, help with the boil. Snowshoe, stargaze, sled, x-country ski. Includes 5 meals and a sleigh ride. Last weekend in February and first two weekends in March every year.

HEATH SKI
The first weekend in February the HEATH park department sponsors a ski race. You don’t have to race it- just ski for fun! Local townspeople open their lands for the race. You get to ski on beautiful blueberry fields, private forests, and farm land. Lunch is offered as a fund-raiser for the Heath Public Pre-school. You can use our waxing shed.

SPRING ON the FARM
Spring means farm babies. We usually have baby lambs some time in February or March. Baby bunnies can arrive anytime. We get the day old chicks in May and day old turkeys in June. Kids are welcome to help feed the animals, or just cuddle a farm baby.

FLY-FISHING IN THE DEERFIELD RIVER
Fly fishing begins in earnest on the Deerfield in May. The Deerfield is the western boundary of our town and only 3 miles away. We’ll hook you up with Jack Smola, fly-fishing guide for the Deerfield River. He is a lot of fun and guarantees you’ll hook a fish every trip. We can attest to his skill, teaching ability, and great personality. The fish taste great too! We’ll fry your catch up for dinner!

ROWE CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER
Got the "I can't wait for summer blues"? Take in a weekend conference at the Rowe Conference Center (www.rowecenter.org), just one mile down the street. Singing, drumming, tracking, introspection, self-growth, it’s all available. And you’ll feel rejuvenated afterwards!
